THANKSGIVING DAY 2019 NFL GAMES: CHICAGO BEARS VS. DETROIT LIONS, TV CHANNEL, LIVE STREAM..

The Detroit Lions kick off Thanksgiving Day's football extravaganza when they host the Chicago Bears on Thursday afternoon.

The two NFC North rivals squared off in 1934 in the first NFL game nationally broadcast on radio and the Lions are widely credited with sowing the seed for professional football becoming a Thanksgiving staple.

Thursday will be the 80th time Detroit has played on the national holiday and marks the second consecutive year the franchise has hosted Chicago—the Bears having played 35 games on Thanksgiving Day.

A year ago, the Bears defeated the Lions 23-17 in Detroit, securing a fifth straight win to improve to 8-3. Chicago lost to the New York Giants after the bye, but won its final four games to finish the season with a 12-4 record.

Fast forward 12 months and the picture couldn't be more different in the Windy City. The Bears are third in the NFC North with a 5-6 record and any hopes of playoffs have long been shelved, let alone chances of winning back-to-back divisional titles for the first time since the 2005-2006 seasons.

Few players have epitomized Chicago's struggles this year as much as Mitchell Trubisky. A Pro Bowl selection last season, the second-overall pick of the 2017 draft has regressed at a rate of knots this year. Trubisky has thrown for 1,858 yards, 10 touchdown passes and six interceptions so far this season and ranks 31st in the league in terms of quarterback rating.

The 25-year-old threw for a season-high 278 yards and one touchdown in the 19-14 win against the Giants on Sunday, but was picked off twice.
